The Gift card industry has exploded over the past five years in popularity. According to the National Retail Federation, Gift Cards accounted for 8% of all holiday retail sales. What started with retailer-specific closed system cards has now expanded to the more universal open system Visa Gift Card. Open system cards, like Visa’s, give the recipient greater choices in how and where to spend their gift.
