To give you a little background, early fall of 2005 we received a fax from Community Bank Products and ICBA Bancard concerning a Prepaid Gift Card Webinar. It looked interesting so we registered for it. We thought offering gift cards would be a good promotion for the bank. And we wanted to be the first bank in our community to offer gift cards. The cards really became popular, especially during Christmas time. We had numerous businesses that gave the cards to employees for Christmas gifts. They are also very popular during the graduation season. The service we receive from Community Bank Products teanm is excellent. The people there are very helpful.

The gift card for our bank is good for us because of the simplicity. It is short and sweet. The load screens are fast and there's just one. We like the idea of only having to enter the purchaser information just once while we can load several cards under that one umbrella. Reporting is very simple and straightforward. We were pleased to find that there was no set-up fee for the program and the cost per card was not a price gouge.... which leads us to the community. This program is good for the community because our customers (both bank and non-bank) can purchase a gift card at a very reasonable price. It creates traffic of possible new customers (a side note). We have been able to use the cards to give as donations to fund raisers where there is a drawing and so on. We also use it for a promotion we have called Free Fuel Fridays. When a customer opens an account they get to go in a drawing for a gift card that may be used to purchase fuel (and other things as they wish). All of these uses of the card help us build a good rapport within our community.
